Mano Venkatraman and I have had a lot of fun in our emails discussing creative ideas, use of color and placement and the excitement of cast plaster decorating. Mano loves ornate (as do I) and decided to give this fireplace surround an EXTREME detail make over! Mano found that repeating highly detailed mold designs would create the look of carved panels. With that in mind, a new fireplace surround was created. Pre-finishing each piece with a rich, pale brown/rust color makes the plaster look like carved wood! Accent/border pieces were toned darker to create interesting detail in the pattern itself. Mano is no stranger to art. His painting abilities are terrific and use of color exquisite!
