Roy Naipaul saw a
project on the website where I had added our Small Cartouche Mold above the
doorways in my office. He fell in love with it and decided that it would be
the perfect treatment for his already detailed doorway.
His doorways feature fluted moldings with plinth blocks
at each corner and ornate molding at the ceiling level. But he knew if he
added a single gold ornament above the very center of the doorway, that it
would create an even more beautiful entry. And boy, did it!
Once cast and dry, your pieces can be coated with a
solution of 1/2 white glue (such as "Elmer's" mixed with 1/2 water to seal
the porous plaster so that it will accept paint evenly and smoothly. They
can then be pre-painted before applying them to the wall or ceiling surface
which saves TONS of time and effort later.
Single ornamental pieces like this can be added easily to
cabinets doors, drawer fronts or anywhere a bit of architectural
ornamentation would dress up an otherwise plain area.
Ornamental plaster pieces like this are easily created
with plaster of paris and our molds. Click the link below to see what a
cinch it is.
