Decorating with Cast Plaster

Use Any Small Mold Design to Create a Dramatic Kitchen!

This certainly must be one of my most dramatic make-overs to date!

As most of you know, we are in the process of re-doing our Idaho home to move in to in 2009. Well, I HATED the kitchen! It just wasn't my style and gosh, to purchase new cabinets was out of this world with everything else we wanted to do, so I re-did them!

The kitchen cupboards were what I call "Country slatboard". Though they were custom built by the original owner, they just didn't scream my name, you know?

Well, I filled the slatted recesses with joint compound, let it dry and sanded it smooth. A coat of primer set me up for the next step.

I had a particular style design in mind and since I didn't have that in a mold design, I purchased onlays from Decorator's Supply Corp.

These onlays are created from a mold but they don't sell the mold, only the pieces (pricey, but worth it). To complete my doors, my bill with Decorator's Supply was in excess of $200.00

I glued the onlays on to center of each small cupboard and used a long onlay design on the pantry doors.

I painted the doors cream and desert sand in a two tone format then color washed the onlays to match. Whew! What a difference!

Now my cabinet doors are the beautiful, ornamental "Traditional" cabinets I pictured in that kitchen! Can you believe the difference? I'm more than thrilled with them.

Remember that you can use any of our Ornamental Mold designs to create as many ornamental pieces as you would need to re-do all of your kitchen cabinet doors for a fraction of the cost!

I now have to paint and detail the kitchen island to match the cabinets on our next trip there. We've ordered the slab granite counter top and I can't wait until it's all installed! How fun!
