Eddie McMillan
seems to be becoming our "resident" Victoria Larsen plaster artist these
days.... Well, that's because Eddie never stops producing new rooms, new
walls, new ceilings to inspire us all!
Every time I see his email address come up in my "inbox",
I know I'm about to open a "treat" of eye candy from the home of "Plaster
Eddie".
Starting with a plain room with plain walls, Eddie first
paints the wall deep being color and then applies rectangular frames of
thin, white molding to the walls. Faux finishing is added within the
rectangles to create warmth and a feeling of "texture". That long, plain
wall now has a lot of detail and interest!
Eddie then adds cast plaster medallions within just a few
of the frames. Any more than what he chose to do might have made the wall
look "cluttered".
Cast plaster frames and medallions added to the ceiling
give this room such a "regal" feel! You would expect the King's throne to
grace the back wall.
Above the french doors, Eddie does the same faux
treatment to the tray ceiling area and creates a simpler, yet very elegant
medallion around the lighting fixtures.
Final touches are created by adding cast plaster
medallions around the doorway molding.
Whew! Eddie! You blow me away! I recently wrote Eddie
that the day he decides to sell his beautiful home, he's going to worth a
fortune from the proceeds!
Designer's tip: Don't
forget how easy it is to apply plaster to ceilings, walls and furniture.
Simply spread joint compound over the back, hold it to the intended area for
a few minutes, let go and it's there to stay!
