Decorating with Cast Plaster

Two simple molds create a stunning swag.

Eddie McMillan can't help himself; he's an artist with a flair for the dramatic! And drama is all over Eddie's self crafted home as you can tell from the number of projects we've featured of his beautiful work.

In touring Eddie's home, you will find his creative designs not only on the ceilings and walls, but floors, railings, moldings and creative cabinetry. Eddie leaves few surfaces "un-touched".

On one of his soaring ceilings, a window box was crafted and the interior, pre-lit. But the lighting was quite enough to bring the necessary attention to this unique area of the wall and so Eddie created a cast plaster swag of three simple roses and our Bellflower Drape mold design.

The bellflower is one of my favorite molds of all because of it's versatility. It's unique from other molds because if you sink a length of string down in to the wet plaster and allow it to dry, once you pop it out of the mold, you can literally "break" the elements apart which allow them to bend in different directions which gives you freedom of "movement" in your designs.

Eddie left the cast plaster un-painted which gives instant contrast to the rich color of the walls.
