Decorating with Plaster Stenciling

Stone tiles are a cinch!

Cindy Quave  is a professional faux finish artist and one that blossoms every time she thinks of "texture".

On this wall, she took very thin 1/4" tape and masked off a pattern she found pleasing: a mixture of diamond and rectangle tiles.

She then plastered over the tape, removed it to reveal her new plastered wall then colored her design once dry.

Now tell me... can you tell that's not real stone tile? I can't.

OK... so you don't want to worry about creating your own design and would like to just use a stencil to do a full wall of stone tiles.

Choose from our Raised Plaster Stone, Tile and Brick Stencils to make it easy!

Designer's tip: to make coloring your bricks super easy, just pre-tint your joint compound! You want "pure pigment" colors rather than craft or wall paint so as not to water down the joint compound. These come in the forms of tints, stucco colors, concrete colors and even food colorings.

Simply mix up small batches of color and apply. No need to paint afterward! Do remember that the color when wet will be much lighter when dry.
