Making a grand fireplace with Raised Plaster Columns

Her fireplace just seemed to be lacking some architecture with it's plain brick front. So Denise decided to do something about it using our Raised Plaster Life-sized Columns Stencil.

She placed one floor to ceiling on either side of the fireplace then painted both the fireplace brick and the columns the same color.

What she succeeded in doing was not only to add an ornate design to the fireplace focal point, she also created the illusion that the fireplace was much larger and more grand by extending it's width.

The ornamental design down the columns and across the tops of the fireplace give the whole scene more detail and interest.

Designer's Tip:

Large, life-sized designs such as pillars and columns can add architectural detail to a room so quickly and easily. Long walls benefit by dividing them in to ornamental sections. Try painting the wall section a slightly different color than the column and watch the room suddenly take on a whole new feel!
