Fay Forsythe, my
ultra talented Mother, lives in the desert Southwest of New Mexico. Having
purchased her home just a few years ago, the yard itself seemed a "desert"
with no plants, no lawn, no flowers, just ugly, brown dirt....
But Fay, being the do-it-yourselfer of all time and master
gardener, set out to change all that. Now an oasis of green and colorful
blossoms, her most incredible addition to her yard was this fabulous faux
boulder, set down in to the gravel just outside her fence.
Created by molding chicken wire in to the shape she wanted,
she then mixed straw with concrete to spread over the form.
Once that dried, she added colorings to the rest of her
concrete and spread over the dried boulder form to create what you see in
the photo.
She then sunk it down in to the gravel to make it look like
it had been there for centuries! Neighbors were amazed at the process,
stopping to chat and oogle as she worked away at this architectural beauty!
This is a woman who can do just about anything and I can't
wait to see the fireplace she has just transformed! I'll show you the photos
as soon as I return from my trip to see her next month!
