Heidi McKinzie wanted a very
special place for her very special daughter to play, to dream, to laugh and
to sleep. She is her "princess" and Heidi made sure she never forgets it by
creating the room of this precious little one's dreams! Using a
block wall stencil, she created faux castle walls in the corner of the room.
Faux finished in tone of castle gray.
Above the bed, she hung a delightful, sheer drape that gracefully
falls around the headboard, and with it's pointed top, gives the illusion of
the "tower" that would be atop those castle walls.
Letters above the window and fantasy bed cover and floor rug bring the
room together, completing the scene. How fun! And how she must love it!
Thank you Heidi!
Designer's tip:
If you desire a very elaborate castle
design, completely enclose one wall in castle stones. Next, use those stones
to create a round window and then inside the window, either hand paint a
distant mural or cut one out of wallpaper or even a magazine photo that you
have enlarged. "Modge-podge" (a product found in your local craft store) to
the wall to make it permanent and durable.
