Debi Baker, is a woman who
appreciates the finer things in life. That fact is certainly evident in the
way she decided to decorate her beautiful room. Natural wood doors and
architectural moldings (obviously wonderfully "antique") creates a warmth
all it's own but Debi added to the beauty and elegance by painting the walls
a soft sage color.
She then plaster stenciled our Raised Plaster Frilly Acanthus stencil as
a flipped design above the doorways and windows.
After the plaster had dried, she painted the raised design in gold.
The affect created by have a gold design on top of the deeper sage walls
is very soothing and inviting. Click on the photo to enlarge and see how the
gold reflects the light and draws your eye right to it's beauty.
Try the same technique on a piece of old furniture you have been saving
for that "dump" run your husband makes every now and then!
Paint the piece sage green, allow to dry, then add your favorite raised
plaster design (and maybe a cast plaster piece or two from your favorite
mold) and paint them gold. Two or more coats will be necessary to provide
complete coverage and the desired depth of color you seek.
Now, watch that piece become one of your most treasured possessions!
