Rusty Headrick
took it literally when I said that Raised Plaster is as easy as frosting a
cake. Actually, professionals have been doing this for decades, but Rusty
shows you that ANYONE can do it!
Rusty simply drew out a simple wrought iron design and transferred it to
the wall, piping the joint compound over the top of the lines.
How do you do that? With a cake decorating bag and tip.
Wilton puts out a great, inexpensive set of cake decorating tools where
you will find heavy duty plastic cone shaped bags, screw on inserts (for
inside the bag) and outside plastic piece to secure all in place and a wide
variety of super inexpensive cake decorating tips ranging from ones with
tiny openings, to flat edges, scallops and more... the excitement is in
experimenting! You can find these products at most larger craft stores or
on-line websites. Just search for "Wilton Cake Decorating" and oodles of
sites will come up for your perusing!
How about using one of the plaster molds to create a central ornament
over the door or window then piping your own unique design around it? You
cake decorators just had a light bulb go off in your head didn't you??? HA!
