There is a complete sense of total satisfaction when you
can turn something very plain in to something that you literally would take
pride in giving away as a treasured gift!
This is such a case.
In the thrift store, I found this ratty little box for
just $3.00
I added plaster stenciling to the top, front and sides
using our
Raised Plaster Bennington
Frieze Stencil, and removed the ugly little ceramic medallion they had in an oval recessed
center.
I used our "Celtic Square
Plaster Mold" to create a replacement
medallion for the front and painted the entire project a soft, sage green.
Once it was all dry, I then replaced the stencil over the
plaster designs and painted them gold, added gold paint to the edge of the
box, then added gold paint to the outside, front and some of the detail of
the cast plaster ornament, glued that puppy in to place and look what I got!
What a dramatic and CHEAP make over of a CHEAP (yet good
quality) wooden box!
Now, I know there's something up in your attic, basement
or hanging around the "donation" pile that you could turn in to a treasure
like this. Wanna make more money? Sell that item on Ebay!
