Decorating with Stencils

Pre-colored Cast Plaster and plaster stenciling make for gorgeous friezes!

Linda Benson has discovered the raised plaster stencils and molds and is now going to town on them!

Pink cast plaster roses from a mold are affixed to a raised plaster rose vine and used as a singular element above her bed.

She's colored both her rose and grape designs for a very "crisp" look that really stands out against those walls.

Beautiful Job Linda!

Here's her email to me:

Hi Victoria,
I wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed doing my plaster projects.
Your stencils are so classy looking it's hard to believe how simple
they are to use.  This is a wall in the master bedroom.  When we moved
here less than a year ago, this room was painted a pale green with a
wallpaper border of grapevines.  This room looks so much better with
your stencil on the wall.
These are your roses and rose vine in my guest room.  This room is
white except for this one wall which is pale blue sponged over white.
The room has a blue country style quilted bedspread with pink roses in
the pattern, with curtains to match.  There is a picture on the wall of
an Airedale puppy with a vase of pink roses.  This stencil pulled the
theme of the room together beautifully.
Thank you so much for your wonderful stencils and great directions.

Linda Benson

Designers tip:

Casting ornately molded elements to add to your wall is super easy! Just spray the mold with a release agent like "Pam cooking spray", mix plaster of paris 2 parts plaster to one part water and mix well (like pouring cake batter). Pour in to the mold then wait 30-45 minutes for it to set up, pop it out of the mold and apply to the wall (or craft, furniture piece) by applying joint compound to the back then holding in place for just about a minute! That's how easy it is!
