Decorating with Stencils

If you can't find it, make it!

Cathey Cummings figures if she can't find it, by golly, she'll MAKE it!

She purchased our Raised Plaster Katherine Border stencil and pre-tinting the plaster, applied it to encase the wall beside her beautiful fireplace. It perfectly coordinates with the colors of the stone work and makes it a true focal point of the room.

But the most exciting part of what she did is this: (And trust me, she's a genius!)

She couldn't find the exact mold she wanted to she made her own! Cathey took Plumbers putty and rolled in to a flat piece with a rolling pin, pressed it over the element she wanted a mold of, then used it to fill with plaster and create her own cast plaster pieces from! What a genius! (Oh, I mentioned that before?)

Now Cathey is molding everything in site and creating unique molds that no one else has. GREAT going Cathey! We LOVE people like you!

Designers tip:

Casting ornately molded elements to add to your wall is super easy! Just spray the mold with a release agent like "Pam cooking spray", mix plaster of paris 2 parts plaster to one part water and mix well (like pouring cake batter). Pour in to the mold then wait 30-45 minutes for it to set up, pop it out of the mold and apply to the wall (or craft, furniture piece) by applying joint compound to the back then holding in place for just about a minute! That's how easy it is!
