Creating a background mural is much simpler than you
might suspect. I've begun creating designs for you to make that job easier,
but using these principals will help you use any smaller stencil design to
create lovely backdrops for larger elements such as trees, fences, columns
and so on.
First, I simply stenciled our mountain stencil.
Remember that making things in the distance pastel in color, will make them
appear very far away.
Next, using an old towel dipped in diluted green
acrylic paint, I simply swiped the wall in one direction to create a hill,
then with a lighter diluted green, did the same thing on the opposite side.
Now I have background "hills".
Next, I began adding other elements. I put in the
road, then added the cypress trees along side.
I then added the large and small trees along with the
gazebo on the right side of the road.
Lastly, I dipped my stencil brush in green acrylic
paint, (just the tip), laid the bristles on their side then "tapped" the
wall lightly to create a forest of trees on top of the hills. It was fun!
So as long as you can follow simple stencil instructions (which is much like
coloring in a coloring book), you can create beautiful background by adding
simple swipes of a cloth and taps of a brush. |
