Pine cones have
long been a favorite decorating element. Not only for rustic log homes, but
where a less frilly, more country or manly design is desired.
Personally, I love the woodsy look and this would be a
terrific design for my home in the forest of Northern Idaho.
In this example, I painted the surface deep, rich
brown. Pre-tinting the joint compound with craft paints, I did the pine cone
portion in lighter brown and the needles in green.
Once dry, I sponged over the top of the entire surface
with light brown paint mixed with translucent wall glaze, and then added
just a touch of metallic gold paint to the pine cones to give them an
elegant touch of glimmer.
