Inspired
by a very expensive and rustic country kitchen that had an entire wall of
pebbles behind the luscious gas and wood stove, I came home and fashioned
our "Plaster Wall of Pebbles" with small little pebbles all fit together
in a wall formation.
A super easy way to pre-color your stones is to add
powdered fabric dye right in to the joint compound. Of course, all the
stones will turn out the same color, but that's super easy to fix and
loads of fun; just take a small sponge and sponge various tones in the
same color range (or even contrasting colors) and blot over the top of the
stones lightly for natural looking variation.
Color them various shades of browns, grays,
black and rust and watch what happens! Flick a toothbrush of deeply
colored acrylics over the wall (of course DO protect everything else!) to
make it look totally real!
The entire stencil measures 16"x11" and the
largest pebble in the stencil only measures 1 3/4"X2 1/2" so you can tell
these are pretty small pebbles! Single stencil.
