Just as I was sick of mine, and you are sick of
yours, Pamela Herzer
was just as sick of her own ugly kitchen Formica
counter tops.
She set out to change that nasty fact and she did it so
beautifully! Giving her counters a new faux finish in paler colors of
cream and browns, her counters took on a whole new look.
Equally amazing was the faux tile she did on the
backsplash!

Here's what she wrote:
"I
finally decided to tackle this project in a totally different way. I had
a couple of 4 x 4 inch tiles, and I just drawing the grid lines on the
walls (I ended up using the diamond pattern). Then I taped using my 1/8
inch tape always on the same sides . I plastered over the tape, and just
before it dried, I pulled off the tape letting the custom colored painted
walls for the grout lines show through. I lightly wiped it with a damp
cloth, which smoothed it out very nicely. and with the custom colors of
metallic gold glazing, with grays and white, I sponged it on in some
places, wiped it in others, and swirled it in other spots. I am so happy
to say, "it looks so awesome"! I am so very happy with the outcome. It
looks fantastic!"
Don't you just LOVE creative people?
Using the same color palet of the counters, she created the most luscious
faux tile backsplash. Now who needs REAL tile? Certainly not Pamela!
There are a number of ways you can do your counter tops.
The paint method is the same (click the link below for that info). If
you're good at creating faux finishes as Pamela is, that's fabulous. If
not, try our
Faux
Granite Effects Counter Top Stencil to make things much
easier!

We even have a stencil for the tile!
