I have been impressed with
Sue Scarantino's work for years.
In my book, Sue is a true "Designer". She has a knack for
placement, for color, for detail and it shows in everything she does.
Sue designs items for sale and is a well known and much
sought artist on "Ebay".
Hand painting signs, headboards, furniture and small
items has created a unique and wonderful business for Sue. I watch her
auctions carefully just to see what new and fabulous thing she has come up
with.
Here, Sue created a decor element using an old wooden
piece that may have even been a long cupboard door at one time (evident by
the molding surround).
Painting the insert a warm cream color, she added a
painted a distressed
Small Floral Medallion Mold to the center and hand painted roses on
either side.
Painting the molding surround a pale peachy beige, she
then added larger cast
Oasis to the end, creating a unique "one of a kind" wall hanging. How
beautiful would this be seated over your bed or a doorway?
I love Sue's work and am considering a "bid" of my own!
Designer's tip:
Remember that if you have
no desire or interest in learning to paint your own roses, stenciled roses
will do the trick! With our overlay designs, roses and vines come out
"looking" hand painted! Add them to any item you wish and remember that you
can certainly use just "part" of a design when you need something smaller.
To distress cast plaster,
simply paint it a light color. Once dry, dilute darker acrylic paint with
enough water to make it slightly runny. Paint this mixture over the item,
allowing it to get down in to crevices and then wipe it off of the surface.
This will give your piece an "aged" appearance.
