Decorating with Plaster Stencils

Make it extra special with simple touches!

Creating truly unique and beautiful walls with plaster stenciling is actually quite easy!

Not only is it easy to stencil with plaster, but with a little color and some creative imagination, you can have walls like these that become a focal point in your home all by themselves! (Heck! Who needs furniture or artwork!).

OK, so you may not appreciate the exact colors I've used here, but take the principal and use colors that please you!

Tape off an area next to the ceiling and paint it a rich, deep color. Paint the rest of the wall a lighter tone of the same shade. I re-taped over my dark and light colors to create a simple 1" high strip that I then painted gold as well.

Apply your plaster stenciled border to the deeply colored area. Once dry, replace the stencil over the top and paint it brilliant gold.

Now, cast any small plaster medallion or ornament of your choice and paint them gold as well.

Stencil a small repeated border (plaster stencils are great for this too!) under your deep colored strip and then add the cast plaster ornaments. It's that easy!

Check out the Ornamental Wall Molds section to the left for all of our luscious designs and easy instructions!
