Decorating with Stencils

A bright purple bath turns in to a regal retreat!

How can I even begin to describe the horrified look as I first viewed this master bathroom of this home we were to purchase as a retirement home; a place that was to be off my own master suite in our new home in Idaho.

All I saw was purple! Purple on the walls of the master bedroom (in hopes of coordinating with the purple bath?), the tub, the potty, the sink... it screamed of purple everywhere! But we purchased the house anyway and I set out on a mission... ditch all the purple and give it an elegant look!

I have to admire people who at least "try". But here's a lesson: the old owner didn't know what to do about a purple tub, toilet and sink. So they painted the bedroom walls purple as well in hopes of coordinating this un-changeable (to them) color.

Funny, and a little known trick is to have a professional come in and re-paint those items! The toilet and sink were replaced via Home Depot. The tub (an $1800.00 replacement) came all the way back here to Everett, Washington and for a mere $200.00 was painted back to white by a pro right in our own garage! Did you know they can do this right in your own bathroom? They just mask off everything! So if you have an "orange" tub you just can't stand anymore, give it a make over with the pros! It's cheaper than replacement!

On page two, you will see the bath's transformation into what is beginning to be a regal retreat for myself and my husband Dana.
