Looking at this very elegant spiral stair case, you
wouldn't think it could possibly be more beautiful. It's white stairs and
balusters with rich deep wood toned rail and pale beige walls give it the
feeling of sheer opulence doesn't it?
WELL HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS!
CATHY HIGGENS IS ABOUT TO KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!
When she sent me these photos it blew me away.
I've fallen in love with molded plaster and Cathy took just one design (The
scroll mold set) and added such ornate detail to those stairs to make them
more opulent than I ever imagined!
What she would have paid a professional to do this job would have been
thousands of dollars. But for the price of a couple of bags of "plaster of
paris", the 24.00 mold set and a little time, she created this all by
herself!
Cathy, I'm so proud of you I could just jump for joy!
I also have to commend Cathy on her decorating flair. The chair, table and
floral arrangement are the perfect additions to this setting. |

Designers tip:
Casting ornately molded elements to add to your wall
is super easy! Just spray the mold with a release agent like "Pam cooking
spray", mix plaster of paris 2 parts plaster to one part water and mix well
(like pouring cake batter). Pour in to the mold then wait 30-45 minutes for
it to set up, pop it out of the mold and apply to the wall (or craft,
furniture piece) by applying joint compound to the back then holding in
place for just about a minute! That's how easy it is! |
