Decorating with Stencils

Stenciled faux rug looks so real people tend to trip!

Carol Wallace has more insight and "guts" than I've ever seen in anyone before her. This woman knows no fear in order to teach us all that we can abandon all and go for broke when it comes to something we envision!
So many will tell us to do it the right way or don't do it at all........ but what fun is that?

The right way (according to the specialists, and heaven for bid any one of them should ever visit this site!) is to completely strip the floor, sand it down, stencil it, apply a new Swedish finish then seal it with three coats of varnish with sanding in between or it just won't look right. Well Carol proves them all wrong! And I've said it over and over again.... Do what you WANT!

Over the top of her existing wood flooring, this daring artist created a REAL looking faux rug that tends to make people literally lift their feet in fear of "tripping". With a light coat of varnish over the top, this design has lasted for years! Sure, after this long it's getting a bit scuffed........ but what would the actual rug look like by now?

Designers tip:

Any design you fancy can be easily adapted to a stenciled rug on your floors (no matter what kind of floor that happens to be!). Simply tape off surrounding areas with masking tape to create "borders" for a rose design, for instance. Hand paint a bit of fringe on the edge and there's a beautiful faux rug right there on your floor!

This is a great thing to do on canvas as an actual "floor mat" and then simply use the glue gun to add REAL fringe!

How about painting one on the patio or front porch!
